Junior Teams Keen to Serve Up Their Best in Grand Final

SIBLING RIVALRY: Sisters Kayla and Shanelle Simmons wish each other good luck for their final this Saturday morning.

EXCELLENT weather greeted the Saturday Morning kids for their Term 1 semi-finals.

In Division 4 Team Schiavone played Team Clijsters with team members Brent Fairbairn, Ashley Slaviero and Dillon Young all enjoying singles wins over their opponents.

They will play Team Zvonareva who had a 31-17 win over Team Wozniacki.

Matthew Lang, Michael Podbury and Riley Fairbairn are all part of the Team Zvonareva.

Team Wilson in Division 3 which features Sam Reynolds, Christian Slaviero and Jonah Ting was too strong for Team Head.

Christian had a fine 6-2 win in his singles. Sam and Jonah teamed up to have a 7-1 win in the doubles which put the result to bed.

The other semi saw Team Dunlop win against Team Prince 28-20 in a close match.

The Team Dunlop players are Ratana McGuiness, Max Jones and Declan Mayben.

Two of the doubles were 4-4draws and the singles match between Declan and Lachlan Turner was also a 4-4 draw. Max Jones had a nice 6-2 victory in his singles match to tip the balance to Team Dunlop.

It will be an interesting week for the Simmons twins after both Shanelle and Kayla were members of teams that won their semi and now play each other in the Division 2 grand final this Saturday morning.

Team Murray of Shanelle Simmons, Slade Gentle and Tara Charleson defeated the top team going into the semi in a very close 26-22.

The standout was a 6-2 win for Tara Charleson. Josh Sorenson for the opposition did well to win his singles 5-3.

The other semi saw Team Berdych of Gerard Purton, Kayla Simmons and Ishaan Dhabuwabi defeat Team Ferrer 31-17. Kayla had a nice day being involved in an 8-0 doubles win with Gerard as well as winning her singles match 7-1. …
