Dolan Hoping It Can Be Third Time Lucky; BOXING

DAVID Dolan has his fingers crossed for another British title fight after winning for the first time since July 2010, writes CRAIG JOHNS.

The Sunderland-born cruiserweight has unsuccessfully fought for the belt twice, but believes that at 32 years of age, the time is right.

He said: "There are only a select amount of people in the country who can box for the British title. You've got to be of a certain standard and I've got my fingers crossed. I know Enzo Maccarinelli won the other day so I'm hoping he wants an opponent and hopefully my name is in the hat.

"With a bit of luck I might get that shot and I know I can take it."

Dolan fought Eastern European journeyman Tayay Mehmed on the bill of Phil Jeffries' (father of Olympian Tony Jeffries) latest promoted show - Reincarnated - which took place in Hartlepool on Sunday.

Dolan won comfortably in the end, but admitted that there was bit of ring-rust after being out since losing to Jon Lewis Dickinson at the Stadium of Light last July. …
