Christ Church of Peace in Jacksonville has a new denominational identity and a new pastor after recent congregational action.

The congregation has joined Congregational Conference and this past Sunday it voted to call the Rev. Harvey Carr its pastor.

"It is wonderful to be back home and to renew ministry with the church and with the Riverside Avondale Ministerial Association," Carr said. Carr previously served the church as pastor of worship arts and outreach ministries from 2005 to 2008. He will assume leadership of the congregation on April 1.

The Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine will host an "Evening of Prayer for the Solemnity of St. Joseph" at 7 p.m. Monday.

The liturgy is being held to honor the ministry of the Sisters of St. Joseph, an order that is also based in St. Augustine. The theme celebrates St. Joseph, the patron of the order and of the Catholic Church.

The Most Rev. Felipe J. Estevez, bishop of the Jacksonville-based Diocese of St. Augustine, will lead the service and give the homily.

The faculty and students of St. Joseph Academy also will be recognized.

Emma's Revolution will perform at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Jacksonville at 8:30 p.m. March 23.

The performance is part of the Florida District UU Association's annual assembly being held at the church. …
