SARAH Parkin caught the biggest fish of the week from SCALING DAM - and netted a pounds 200 prize, the reward for the captor of the uniquely marked golden trout.

The Whitby angler, fishing on a family permit, caught nine fish topped by the 6lb 9oz goldie.

It is the second successive season she has caught the first goldie of the campaign, and from the same part of the bank.

Sarah caught most of her fish using a worm and PowerBait cocktail and landed her special fish on Chartreuse PowerBait Eggs.

Mark Hammond from Redcar had a lively day at the east end of the dam wall when he caught his eight fish limit including a 3lb rainbow. His fish took White Gulp Eggs.

Youngster Mitchell Hillyard, 12, from Loftus caught his first ever trout on his first visit to Scaling. He offered ledgered worm.

Over the week 150 anglers caught 335 trout with worm, White Gulp Eggs, Orange PowerBait, and Chartreuse PowerBait Eggs the best baits.

Top fly patterns were: Dawson's Olive, Black and Orange Fritz, Kate McLaren. A further 575 trout have been stocked.

SIX youngsters had a cracking day on an Angling Development Board coaching course at LOCKWOOD BECK Reservoir.

Among them they caught 35 rainbows to 3lb 8oz And senior anglers have also been among the fish. John McGarrell yesterday added to his big fish reputation by catching a 9lb rainbow on a size 14 Buzzer.

Mark Walker caught 14 to 9lb 8oz by fishing small lures under an indicator.

Ten members of Northumbrian Waters Game Angling Club fished from boats and totalled 37 fish.

Snow melt had lowered water temperature, so try fishing more slowly with intermediate lines.
