Bikers Rev Up for Annual Fun; Two-Wheel Excitement at Rally

RON Laycock was in his first year of high school when he set eyes on what would become his pride and joy later in life a a 1948 Triumph Speed Twin motorcycle.

And it was only fitting that he show it off at the 2012 Historical Motorcycle Club Easter Rally at the weekend.

aI bought that bike in 1969 when I was 13 years old,a he said.

aI was one of those kids who hung out with the school janitor a that's who I bought it off.a

Mr Laycock said the bike came to him in pieces, and stayed in that condition for the next 40 years.

aOnly about three years ago I started putting it back together,a he said.

aI just decided it was time.a

So Mr Laycock re-assembled the bike, using all the original pieces and put it on show, along with 67 others, at the static bike display held at the PCYC on Saturday.

aIt got heaps of attention,a he said.

The motorcycle enthusiast said a bike exactly the same as his was also on display, but the difference was it had been completely restored. …
