BRITTEN'S STATE TITLE; Robinson Infight to Finish but Kevin Hangs on Toclaim Victory

QUEENSLAND driver Kevin Britten led from start to finish to win the New South Wales V8 Dirt Modified Championship at Lucas Oil Lismore Speedway on Sunday night.

Britten, who began from pole position, scored an impressive victory after he was hounded throughout the 30-lap distance by the eventual runner-up, national champion Mark Robinson.

The third man to the chequered flag was David Clarke.

Britten was clearly the driver to beat after he was the top scorer in the qualifying heats.

Britten and Robinson figured in an exciting dice and in the last few laps.

Robinson made a couple of outside passing attempts in his late bid for victory in a race that was one of the most exciting NSW championships for V8 Dirt Modifieds seen in recent years.

Several yellow light caution periods punctuated the action during the running of the final.

The first occurred only four laps into the race, after a fuel spill from Mick Sauer's car was caused by a loose fuel cap. …
