Traditions Lure Talent; Family Involvement Sparks Samantha's Interest in Show Title

BUSY with two jobs and studying part-time, Samantha Moran was still keen to follow her mother's footsteps.

aMy mum was a showgirl when she was younger and both sets of grandparents lived on cattle farms, some at Ulmarra and the others at Levenstrath,a the 21-year-old said.

Miss Moran is one of four entrants taking part in the 2012 Miss Grafton Showgirl competition.

Early each morning she is filling up the Tip Top Bakery displays in supermarkets and is a manager at Subway South Grafton in the evenings.

Subway is also supporting her to complete a Certificate III in Retail, which she hopes to extend with a Diploma next year.

aI love cooking and being in the food industry and that's probably why I entered Miss Showgirl,a Miss Moran said.

aI like to see how farmers grow the produce and then it comes into the hospitality industry and how they cook it.a

Cooking is something which has garnered her awards at previous Grafton Shows. …
