COMPARING players of different generations is the ultimate pub debate and the Premier League's 20th anniversary provides a perfect opportunity to examine the best in the last two decades.

A panel will decide on four categories while drawing up a fantasy XI and a public vote will determine the winner of four other awards and a fans' all-time team from the last 20 years.

Although cross-generation comparisons can never provide a definitive answer, for what it's worth, here is where my vote would go in each of the public categories.

Best Goal: Paolo di Canio's strike for West Ham against Wimbledon in March 2000 (wondrous volley made more difficult by the ball travelling across his body).

Best Celebration: Sir Alex Ferguson and Brian Kidd's unbridled joy against Sheffield Wednesday in April 1993 (Kidd makes it with his absurd reaction). Temuri Ketsbaia kicking the advertising boards after scoring against Bolton in January 1998 comes close, just for its lunacy. …
