A FRIENDLY and supportive welcome and a similar climate to that of Bangladesh provided Tahmid Ahasan and his family with a positive introduction to life in Rockhampton when they arrived in November.

He said the only slight barrier to their smooth transition into the community was that of language.

Tahmid is a mobile phone specialist with CommsCentre Business Technologies in Musgrave St, his wife Mafruda is studying for her childcare certificate at CQ College of TAFE, while their eldest son, Turhan attends prep at Frenchville and their youngest son, Tamzeed goes to childcare.

Tahmid said the major contributors to this have been CommsCentre Business Technologies owners, Jeff and Trish Winter.
