FOOTBALL: The loss of Chris Swain and Jarod Lancaster through suspension was a big disappointment for the CQ Cougars as it meant two of the quicker players in the side would be missing, however, the problem has been compounded for coach Joe Fenech as Jordan Miller will not travel with the team due to injury.

Fenech said Miller had complained of soreness in a knee during training and the initial diagnosis was he might have damaged the ligaments.

C[pounds sterling]We are awaiting the results of tests.C[yen]

Whatever the results confirm it matters little this weekend as Miller will not be with the team for tonight's match at Perry Park against the Brisbane Strikers.

The loss of Miller is unlikely to change the plans of Fenech for the team's formation against the Strikers.

C[pounds sterling]We've lost four key players but there will be no excuses,C[yen] he said.

This season the Cougars have attacked down the flanks with Miller and Lancaster dangerous.

Without those flyers Fenech is looking to play a narrower and deeper game, not using the width of the Perry Park pitch.

The back four has Dylan Kussrow and Troy Ruthven partnered as the centre back pairing and Johnathon Sauer in front of them.

In the middle of the park Sean Jasperson makes his first start with the Cougars alongside Scott Smith who is also making his debut. …
