POWERLIFTING: Scott Wasson can lay claim to being one of the most confident Australian sportsman, or at least one of the most committed.

The Maleny strongman Co who can bench press the equivalent weight of league monolith Dave Taylor with a small child sitting on his shoulders Co will compete in the Global Powerlifting Committee national championships at the Caloundra RSL in June.

If he finishes in the top two in the 100kg division, he will represent Australia at the GPC world championships in Slovakia in September.

In the 24-year-old's mind, however, he has already made the team and will compete at his first world titles.

To prepare for the nationals, Wasson aims to consume 5500 calories a day Co more than twice the recommended daily intake for someone his age Co in an attempt to increase his weight from 92kg to close to 100kg in time for the competition. …
