Rivalry to Ignite for Friday Footy; Cutters Prop Likely to Miss Up to Eight Weeks

RUGBY LEAGUE: While an injury that keeps a player out of the game for six to eight weeks isn't exactly a positive, it is still a reprieve of sorts for the Skills Training Mackay Cutters.

It was initially feared prop Zac Dalton had broken a bone in his leg. However, coach Anthony Seibold said early assessments pointed to a medial ligament injury. Dalton is still awaiting scans to confirm the injury, but a medial ligament tear would keep him out of the game for up to eight weeks instead of the season.

With the team already dealing with five season-ending injuries, Seibold said in comparison, Dalton's prognosis was better news for the Cutters.

He said it also gave Tyson Andrews an opportunity to break into the top 17 on the back of some hard work.

The Cutters will feature in their first Friday night game at Virgin Australia Stadium this week, when they take on the CQ Capras.

It's the Men of League Rivalry Round in the Intrust Super Cup, with fixtures featuring traditional rivals.

The Cutters and Capras match will double as the second round of the Meng Tyre Group Intercity Challenge, so there is plenty on the line for Mackay. …
