GARY Gold expects to name an unchanged side for the third game running as Newcastle Falcons travel to London Wasps for Saturday's relegation decider. The director of rugby has reported no fresh injury concerns ahead of the Adams Park clash, although wingers Luke Fielden, Suka Hufanga and Alex Tait are all still sidelined along with full-back Jeremy Manning (pictured below).

With a welter of mathematical permutations surrounding the meeting of the Aviva Premiership's two bottom clubs, Gold insisted: "First and foremost we have to win the game, and no other factors even come into the equation without that."

To end the season a point clear of Wasps in the table Newcastle must win, score four or more tries in doing so and deny Wasps any bonus points.

Should Wasps get a bonus point the Falcons must win with four tries or more and by 24 points or more. If Wasps fail to get a bonus point then Newcastle need to win by 24 or more.

Gold said: "We as a coaching team have sat down and discussed how we approach this game, given Wasps' bonus point at Bath last time out and the way that has left the permutations.

"I would be lying if I said it was not a factor and that it had not changed our approach, but in saying that there has never been a game we have gone into where I have said I don't want us to score four tries.

"We always want to do that, especially given the position we have been in, but the reality is that we are going to have to go down to Wasps and do something we have never done before. To be absolutely blunt about it, we need to be a hell of a lot better than we have been."

Cutting a relaxed figure in his pregame press conference, Gold added: "With a situation like this the mind-set is such an important factor, and what is interesting is that I don't actually think we are under much pressure. …
