This is just a blatant money grab by the council.

There are plenty of other businesses that are in this situation, especially since amalgamation.

Business seems to be an easy target for the money grabbing council.

I've heard of many businesses in Maryborough being visited by a acouncil workera, and questioned about their business

on the sly and then, low and behold, extra rates notices for sewerage, water and extras.

It appears council are trying to work with the body corp on a means to an end to this dilemma.

$1395 or just on $64 each for the 22 units is not a lot to pay for a real solution to the problem.

Ultimately, if the original development application did not comply with permanent residency regulations then a material change of use application and approval is the only way forward.

Council do not deserve to be blamed for the obvious failings of the selling agent, the solicitor, or even the body corp in not qualifying and advising all purchasers of the legal occupancy rights over this building. …
