WITH iPads, laptops and interactive whiteboards dominating our student classroom learning environments these days, it can often force us to take the more simplistic yet necessary physical requirements such as a building, a desk and chairs for granted.

Sometimes it is easy for our society, and particularly the next generation of learners, to become so dependant on the latest and most ingenious devices that we become obsessed with the exuberant luxuries rather than be content with common necessities.

For this reason, and as part of celebrating Catholic Schools week Co Faith in Every Student, St Joseph's Primary Maclean along with nine other Clarence Catholic Primary Schools, held a school-based fundraising day last Friday to help provide funds to build a small primary school in Karachi, India. With many children within this region living in slums, education is often not an opportunity let alone a priority.

Alongside Mercy Works, St Joseph's Primary Maclean's efforts assisted in providing fundraising support to help purchase the initial land for this future school. …
