A RED-bellied black snake has given a Norco employee the shock of her life.

Milk supply field officer for the southern region Maree Sanger was driving a Norco company car near Woodburn when, out of the corner of her eye, she noticed something move.

aI looked over to the passenger's seat and saw a large red-bellied black snake on top of my handbag, looking out the window,a Ms Sanger said.

She pulled over, jumped out of the car and slammed the door.

aI was shaking on the side of the road when a truck driver came to my aid and let me borrow his mobile, as mine had gone flat,a Ms Sanger explained.

Ms Sanger called the WIRES hotline, while the truck driver opened the doors to try and let the snake out.

But when the WIRES volunteers arrived, they were unable to find the snake and Ms Sanger was adamant it had agone into hidinga in the car.

A decision was made to tow the vehicle to Lismore, where a bowl of water was placed on the back seat to entice the snake out. …
