A STREET busker who was snapped up by record label Universal is fast-tracking a career in the music industry with a UK tour which brings her to Newcastle tomorrow.

Kristyna Myles's convoluted route to the limelight comes by way of winning a Radio 5 Live Busker of the Year Award which first brought her to the attention of Universal's Decca imprint label.

Then the Birmingham singersongwriter returned to the streets, performing around town centres, while building up a growing fanbase of followers.

But Decca - home of Robert Plant, Sting and Paul Simon - was keeping its eye on her and has signed the rising talent up to a five-album deal.

Now that Kristyna is well and truly in that limelight - with a single Not Going Back due for release on June 18 and a debut album, Pinch Me Quick, planned for September 3 - she is, true to form, doing things a little differently.

Having experienced homelessness firsthand, she's set off busking, on a UK tour of Malmaison hotels over 10,000 miles, to raise funds for national young people's homeless charity Centrepoint. …
