THE family of a schoolboy suffering from a brain tumour has spoken of its gratitude as supporters rally to raise funds for his treatment.

Eight-year-old Jonny Kelly is battling a life-threatening tumour. The young fighter from Billingham has been receiving chemotherapy treatment for the last year in the hope of beating it.

At the beginning of next month he is due to undergo an all-important brain scan which will reveal whether it has worked.

His mum Emma Kelly, 30, said: "He has not had a scan in six months. I'm being optimistic but the reality is that we have to brace ourselves for the worst and just hope for the best. We just don't know what it's going to be."

The systems co-ordinator from Norton has also roped in her colleague, mechanical engineer Brian McGinn, 32, of Middlesbrough.

Linda and Brian, a dad to 18-month-old Patrick, have had the jump cancelled once due to the weather. Last time Jonny, a pupil at Billingham South primary, came to watch and despite the let down, he got a tour of the plane hangers.

Linda said: "He is just a little trouper, he really is. He just gets on with it."

Linda and Brian are set to do a tandem jump from 10,000ft and Jonny is due to go along again. …
