Shop times extended for working women MIDDLESBROUGH housewives were pleased to hear the decision by the District Grocers and Provision Dealers Association that it had been agreed that the shops would stay open until 6pm. Beforehand women working in the factories found that all the shops were shut when they had finished work at 5pm.
