LETTER CARRIERS WILL BE PICKING UP FOOD TODAY

Today is the day to donate nonperishable food items to the National Association of Letter Carriers' 20th Stamp Out Hunger food drive.

Put a bagful next to your mailbox prior to the time of regular mail delivery. Letter carriers will pick up the items for hunger relief organizations, including Second Harvest North Florida, according to a news release.

Last year, Jacksonville residents donated nearly 500,000 pounds of food. For more information, go to stampouthunger.info.

JOB FAIR TUESDAY FOR MILITARY VETERANS

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is hoping to get military veterans and their spouses from the First Coast some extra help at getting a job when the organization hosts a "Hiring Our Heroes" job fair Tuesday.

More than 50 employers will be at the jobs fair for veterans and spouses that will run from 9 a.m. to noon at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront, 225 E. Coast Line Drive.

DAVIS GOES BEFORE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE

Judge Brian Davis is one step closer to becoming a U.S. district judge in Florida's Middle District after going before the Senate Judiciary Committee in Washington on Wednesday.

Davis, 59, was nominated for the post by President Barack Obama in late February.

The Judiciary Committee, which had the opportunity to ask Davis questions Wednesday, can now present Davis written questions and he will have the chance to answer in writing. …
