A TEENAGER who went burgling with his brother was spared jail.

Gary Wilson, 19, acted as lookout for his brother, an experienced burglar, in a daytime raid on a house in Stockton.

A woman neighbour gave police a detailed description of him "standing on guard", but when he was arrested he refused to name his accomplice, Teesside Crown Court was told.

He finally named his brother as the other burglar when he was interviewed by a probation officer for a pre-sentence report, said prosecutor Emma Atkinson. None of the property was recovered.

The brother, who was not named in court, was previously jailed for three and a half years for a string offences including the break-in at The Avenue, Stockton, on November 8 last year.

The family who lived there returned home to find a window in the living room had been forced open and property had been stolen from every room except the bathroom. It was valued at pounds 1,145 and included jewellery, pounds 220 cash, a satnav and car stereo, and a mobile phone. …
