Firms Teaming Up for Travel Venture

ANORTH East firm has joined forces with one of the world's leading travel companies to offer customers first-class experience in travel and luxury services.

Travel Bureau, which specialises in travel concierge and unique holiday experiences, has announced a partnership with Kuoni in an effort to help the company expand its customer service package.

The joint venture will combine the Gosforth-based travel boutique's specialist travel knowledge with Kuoni's extensive range of holidays to destinations all over the world.

Jeanne Lally, commercial director at Travel Bureau, said: "Working with Kuoni allows us to keep our independence while striking up a partnership with a very well-known global brand that offers great holidays to great destinations.

"In terms of reach, we are one business on the high-street and we felt that a brand like Kuoni would help us get a better customer reach.

"Our turnover is up on last year and we're looking to grow as a business over the next three years. We're wanting to expand our offering in specialised leisure, family holidays and overseas weddings. As a wider industry, I think it's been a tough year for the travel sector but people are still travelling and I know the luxury sector is buoyant. Our customers are still booking holidays but you have to work hard in the current climate.

"Most of the holiday industry has responded in terms of trimming their airlines and trimming their accommodation to match the demand." Travel Bureau's newly refurbished dual-branded store was officially opened by BBC TV presenter, traveller and adventurer Simon Reeve on Monday. John Scott, son of the founder and non-executive director of Travel Bureau, said: "Kuoni is a big name in the travel industry and has recently announced a number of high-profile partnerships with leading high street brands, so we are delighted that it has chosen Travel Bureau to represent it in the North East.

"We are looking forward to working together to build on our success as we push our business into the 21st Century, particularly within the online market which is becoming increasingly important. …
