Mum Loses Her Brave Battle at Just 41; Only Daughter Pays Moving Tribute

A POPULAR single mum has died suddenly after a long battle against multiple sclerosis.

Maxine Parker, 41, of Naseby Court, Brotton, died at Redcar's Ann Charlton Lodge on Sunday of MS and bronchopneumonia.

She had gone to the lodge for a respite break.

Only daughter Laura, 19, of Marwood Drive, Brotton, said staff were "shocked and saddened".

Laura is a carer for her partner Steven Weeding, 23, who has autism and epilepsy.

She told the Gazette that her mum had always remained cheerful despite suffering from MS since the age of 18.

Maxine has many friends and family in East Cleveland, where she had lived most of her life, living in Brotton and Skelton, though she was born in South Bank.

Laura said: "She will be deeply missed by everyone. She had always borne her suffering with MS with great courage."

Maxine attended the former De Brus Secondary School in Skelton in the 1980s.

She had a job as a teenager, but then her illness developed and she could not manage a permanent job. …
