NETBALL: Tonight's matches at Jardine Park signal an end to the opening round of competition in the Rockhampton Leagues Club A-grade, with the leading five teams already sorted.

Two of those top teams meet tonight, with Frenchville Brumbies and Colts Divas ready to do battle for the second and third positions.

Last week the Brumbies got home against their Frenchville club rival Mustangs but coach Sonia Cooper was far from happy with the display.

C[pounds sterling]They did not play as well as they should have,C[yen] Cooper said.

Training this week involved a discussion about the game and areas of major improvement.

Among those areas where Cooper felt her players let themselves down were with their passing, footwork and positioning on court.

C[pounds sterling]They knew they hadn't played well,C[yen] she said.

Cooper and the players know a sloppy display against a team of the quality of Colts will result in the Brumbies being punished. However, at this time of year a coach also has to deal with a few basic problems, such as availability.

C[pounds sterling]I hope we have a full team,C[yen] she said.

Already Emma Egerton is not available because of work commitments and then Cooper received a second blow, with ace defender Keanna Hopkins ill.

Hopkins is an integral part of the Brumbies line-up and Cooper is hoping to get another call this morning to say she has recovered and can play.

C[pounds sterling]This is an important game, as it gives one team the chance to cement the number two spot on the ladder,C[yen] she said.

Cooper has no special plans for Colts.

The coach admits she is unaware how Colts will line up because some of the players have been moved around, especially in mid-court.

Theoretically Angels Titans are unlikely to test Bluebirds Hawks in their match tonight. …
