2010 August * Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) begins inquiries into Cleveland Police Authority (CPA) at the request of the force itself 2011 April * HMIC asks Warwickshire Chief Constable Keith Bristow to take over May * Warwickshire Police announces it is carrying out a criminal probe into CPA, using North Yorkshire detectives. The force says it is investigating "people with current or past associations" with the Cleveland Authority * CPA chairman Cllr Dave McLuckie reveals his belief he is being investigated and denies any wrongdoing. He then resigns as chairman, but maintains he is innocent June * A 42-year-old man is arrested and questioned on suspicion of corrupt practice and released on bail. He is not a member of the police or CPA August * Chief Constable Sean Price, his deputy Derek Bonnard and the force's former solicitor Caroline Llewellyn are arrested on suspicion of corruption * Ms Llewellyn is released on bail, while Mr Price and Mr Bonnard are detained before being bailed. Both officers are suspended from the force on full pay - a basic pounds 191,000 and pounds 118,000 respectively September * It is estimated the probe is costing pounds 170,000 a month as CPA warns the Home Secretary of the cost October * Mr Price, Mr Bonnard and Ms Llewellyn are re-bailed to April * Mr Price claims on television that his arrest was "unlawful". Mr Bristow rejects the accusation and says such concerns should be raised with the correct authorities * Jacqui Cheer is named Cleveland Police's pounds 133,000-a-year temporary chief constable November * MPs lobby the Home Secretary for money for the probe - now pounds 879,000 * The Gazette reveals Sacristy is focussed on 10 people - including "very senior public figures and leaders" - and three companies * Cllr McLuckie is arrested on suspicion of corrupt practice and bailed until April December * A CPA report warns Sacristy could have a "catastrophic" effect on its finances as it sets aside pounds 1. …
