GLADSTONE Mayor Gail Sellers will launch the CCP Documentary Photography Award and Related: 20 Years of Sculpture by Wendy Schoenfisch-Young tomorrow at 6pm.

The inaugural CCP Documentary Photography Award was held in 1997 and has since been held biennially, aiming to support this developing genre of contemporary photography.

The award finalists' works were exhibited at the Centre for Contemporary Photography, Melbourne and are now on display at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum as part of their national tour.

The images on display are complemented by the artists' statements about their work, providing valuable insight.

The 12 artists selected for the eighth CCP Documentary Photography Award are: Ying Ang, Paul Blackmore, Daniel Boetker-Smith, Thomas Breakwell, Stephen Dupont, Janina Green, Natalie Grono, Glendyn Ivin, Fiona Morris, Christina Simons, CJ Taylor and Lisa Wiltse.

Supported by Centre for Contemporary Photography, Australia Council, Arts, Victoria, Visual Arts and Craft Strategy, Copyright Agency Limited Cultural Fund, Arts Victoria's Touring Victoria Program, International Art Services, and Tint Design, the Eighth CCP Documentary Photography Award continues on display until June 30.

Award-winning local artist Wendy Schoenfisch-Young responds to life's emotions through her sculptures, installations and paintings, during Related.

Featuring work spanning 20 years, Related demonstrates Wendy's innovative use of diverse materials including wire and sugar, uniquely sharing personal stories though the creative medium. There is a great variety of Wendy's work on offer, revealing many treasures by this local artist.

Presented in conjunction with the artist, Related continues until June 23.
