THREE Rockhampton people were yesterday deemed as having alow-level exposurea to the horse that died on Saturday after it contracted hendra virus.

Queensland Health public health experts assessed the Capricorn Vet Surgery veterinarian, Dr Neil Farmer, who tended the horse on the Nerimbera property, along with two others.

A vet and six other people were also assessed as having low-level exposure at another property near Ingham, north of Townsville, where another horse died from the virus.

A Queensland Health spokesperson said they had elected to be tested for the deadly virus, but the Rockhampton residents had not as of yesterday afternoon.

aIn relation to testing, given the low level of their exposure to the sick horses, the people concerned in both areas are not required to have tests under the guidelines,a the spokesperson said. …
