I AGREE with J Templeman (30.5.12), why can't we have shelters on the end of Saltburn Pier like we used to have? Many years ago my husband would go fishing on the pier at Saltburn in the late summer and I would sit in the sun while my daughters fished with their father.

We used to take a picnic and stay there for many hours.

It was such a popular place and you were protected for the wind and rain because there were so many sheltered areas on both sides of the pier.

Now it is just a cold, windy place with no sheltered areas at all.

I was on the pier all day the day before my eldest daughter was born, the sea air must have done us both good, I think.

So many people walk along the pier, please could we have some shelters on the end? I think us oldies would appreciate this so much. …
