GEARING UP FOR THE MAIN EVENT; London Motorexpo Is Free to Enter and Gives Fans the Chance to Get Up Close to the Latest Models

IT'S the UK's biggest motoring event, it's running all next week -- and it's free. Now in its 17th year, London Motorexpo is set to play host to more than 250 cars and will also witness UK debuts of new models, including the Jaguar XF Sportbrake, BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe, Mercedes-Benz A-Class and the Kia cee'd.

Organisers expect a record 425,000 visitors to the Canary Wharf estate for the motoring spectacular this year, with a number of special interactive features helping boost attendance.

Brands confirmed so far include Aston Martin, Bentley, BMW, Chrysler, Jaguar, Jeep, Kia, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Land Rover, Lexus, Maserati, McLaren, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Rolls-Royce, Tesla, Vauxhall and Volvo to name a few.

In an innovation that has proved popular, cars can be driven around the Canary Wharf estate and, for those wanting to treat themselves to a purchase, prices will range from under [pounds sterling]8,000 to more than [pounds sterling]1 million.

Other show highlights will include the Aston Martin V8 Vantage Coupe and four-door Rapide, Ferrari FF four-seat supercar and convertible California, the Lamborghini Aventador flagship supercar, and the Land Rover heritage fleet including the Series 1 and the full current model range.

Londoners in particular will be interested to see the congestion-charge busting Lexus GS450h executive saloon, Nissan Leaf all-electric hatchback, Tesla Roadster electric sportscar and Vauxhall Ampera, boasting a state-of-the art petrol-electric powertrain. One of the stars of the show will be Bentley's new GT V8, which has a top speed of 188mph and a 0-60mph time of just 4.6 seconds.

For those desperate to splash out, models being sold by auction house H&H Classic Car Auctions will include the [pounds sterling]1million-plus Lamborghini Reventon alongside rare and prestige cars from Aston Martin, Ferrari, Porsche and Pagani. …
