A MACKAY couple has been given suspended jail sentences for being involved in a family-type feud, in which a 66-year-old man was injured.

The couple went to an Andergrove residence to collect some property and became involved in a fight with a 66-year-old man and his 29-year-old son.

Kandis Shirley Dunham, 25, and Gavin Owen Williams, 30, miner, both pleaded guilty in the Mackay Magistrates Court to assault causing bodily harm while in company, common assault, and stealing a laptop computer.

The couple went to the residence and, during an argument, Williams took the father by the shirt and pushed him against a bench, prosecutor Senior Sergeant Matt Saunders said.

Williams then took a $600 laptop off a coffee table.

There was further arguing outside.

The 29-year-old son came home and picked up a sledgehammer.

Williams assaulted the son by kicking him in the ribs; he fell to the ground and curled up, the court was told. …
