IF you look closely at these ballerinas they are not your average tutu-wearing dancers.

They are actually men in tights.

It is not every day Mackay audiences have the chance to watch Les Ballets Eloelle's Men in Pink Tights. This hilarious production is direct from New York and will be on at the MECC on Wednesday, June 20.

From the thrilling pirouettes of the male dancers in drag, with brilliant and innovative choreography, to the side-splitting humour, all presented in specially designed lavish costumes valued at $3 million, Victor Trevino's new debut hit Men In Pink Tights is a show designed for male and female, both young and old.

This production is the ultimate send-up of both classical and contemporary ballet. The combination of brilliant dancing technique, tongue in cheek and blatant humour with intentional foibles, dancing mishaps and of course hissy fits by men playing both male and female roles (some of the men do actually look like gorgeous women, while others are hairy chested men with pancake makeup but all in tutus dancing on perfect pointe creates great entertainment).

Les Ballets Eloelle is one of the few all-male comedy ballet companies in the world. Its mission is to create, to present, to preserve and to extend comedic repertoire of classical and contemporary dancing, through performances of the highest quality, presented to the widest possible audience.

Artistic director Victor Trevino said many of those in the dancing troupe were skilled in improvisation while on stage during a performance.
