A NOOSA surfing veteran has hit back at claims the older generation is to blame for abuse in the line-up.

Bob Aitken has been surfing at Noosa since the 60s a and back then, he says, some surfers had a short string when it came to their tempers.

He has taken offence at Buddina's Damon Bereziat's claim that older suffers are the aworst offendersa when it comes to bullying females or the less experienced in the waves.

aMost of the people I know, who are 67 and older, they've got kids and grandkids and don't go there to harass anyone,a he said.

aThe worst people are those in their 30s and 40s who are going through the transition. They can't surf a short board, can't catch waves and hate longboarders and everyone else.a

Those who had moved from the city to the surf were also aggressive, he said.

aYou see them looking for wave and they see it's crowded and they can't handle it. …
