Logan's Bravery an Inspiration to Many

A LITTLE recognition for children with life-threatening illnesses goes a long way.

Logan Ridgeway, 3, of Ballina is one of just three people in the world known to have a rare chromosome abnormality which hinders their physical and mental development.

aHe doesn't walk and doesn't talk,a Logan's mum, Mandy, said.

aYou do feel isolated because you don't know what the next day is going to hold; that's the hardest thing.a

After Logan's birth, he was regularly admitted to Lismore Base Hospital and Ms Ridgeway even called it their asecond homea.

aWithout the hospital, we wouldn't be where we are today,a she said.

On Sunday, Our Kids charity, which raised money for Lismore Base Hospital Children's Ward, held its annual Our Kids Day Out at Missingham Park in Ballina and presented Logan with a Children's Bravery Award.

The Ridgeways also received a picture frame, chocolates and flowers in front of 500 onlookers. …
