FIVE-eighth Jesse Zaina scored all four tries as St Mary's/St Joseph's claimed a 22-0 victory over South in the Bundaberg Primary Schools Rugby League Open A-grand final at Salter Oval.

But he was beaten for the player-of-the-match award by speedy fullback Nick Kitchener, while coach Craig Steinhardt said front-rowers Reece Zwynenberg and Adam Bylsma were both very good in a C[pounds sterling]great team effortC[yen].

Both teams were unbeaten going into the match but the composite team simply had too many guns.

Neither St Mary's nor St Joseph's had won the title in many years and in fact, Steinhardt said it was the first time St Mary's had competed in it for a number of years and that he had to plead with principal Madonna Davitt to let them enter the competition.

Norville and St Patrick's shared the 11 years A-premiership after battling out a 6-all draw.

They both remained unbeaten after having also drawn in their round robin clash.

West were big 20-4 victors over North in the 11 years B play-off.

West also caused a major upset in outgunning the previously unbeaten Childers 18-6 in the 10 years A grand final after having gained a start when St Luke's was unable to take their place in the game.

East edged out Norville II in the 10 years B-match.

BPSRL president Jason Shears thanked ARL Wide Bay Development Officer Richard Dugdale, who drove from Hervey Bay to referee all three A grand finals.
