THE Bligh Government foisted Caloundra South on us supposedly to delivery affordable housing.

It was a lie to parliament from the get go. New Deputy Premier and Infrastructure and Planning Minister Jeff Seeney calls the claims nonsense.

The Urban Land Development Authority has approved Stockland's development scheme, allowing it less stringent conditions than council would have required to ensure adequate infrastructure.

Mr Seeney has the call-in powers to strip regulatory authority from the ULDA and could presumably place the development back under the control of council, in line with his party's broader planning policy.

Council says it is now getting pressure from other developers who want the same deal as Stockland, putting at risk the $600 million infrastructure agreement it secured over the 15,000 population Palmview development.

Council had secured the Palmview infrastructure agreement. The government had a letter on its table from Investa praising the process.

Council's structure planning for Caloundra South was delayed by the government's failure to determine the future of Caloundra aerodrome.

On September 2, 2010, Anna Bligh told Parliament the aerodrome should stay. On the same day Planning Minister Stirling Hinchliffe warned that he would call in Caloundra South and hand planning to the ULDA if planning failed to meet statutory deadlines. …
