PETER Slipper staffer James Ashby plotted with Mal Brough, Mark McArdle, the LNP and a News Ltd journalist to bring down the controversial Coast MP, explosive court documents claim.

In a 23-page response filed on behalf of Mr Slipper, the MP claims a sexual harassment case brought against him was designed to vilify him, expose him to aopprobrium and scandal'', and destroy his reputation, standing, political position and career.

ACCORDING to the points of claim filed in the Federal Court, Mr Ashby is accused of working to undermine Mr Slipper by providing damaging information to Mr Brough (pictured), Mr Slipper's LNP rival.

Mr Brough is seeking pre-selection to run against Mr Slipper, who left the LNP to become Speaker with the support of Julia Gillard.

Using text messages from Mr Ashby's iPhone, Mr Slipper alleges his adviser had pledged his loyalty while at the same time plotting with fellow adviser Karen Doane behind his back.

aI have made it clear to u before that I have your best interest at heart,'' Ashby wrote in one message.

aI would not bring you into disrepute thru my actions. If I felt my actions would have an impact on you or the speakers (sic) role I would resign,'' he wrote.
