MIDDLESBROUGH Gymnastics Club members shone at a regional competition last weekend.

The club took a team to the North of England Team Acro and Tumbling Competition with many great performances on display.

The team consisted of all levels of gymnasts, from beginner levels to grade three tumblers.

On the morning session it was the tumblers' time to pull out all the stops for the team.

They all performed brilliantly and everyone achieved a medal placing.

Among the medallists include four gold winners.

Eight-year-old Leigh Mulreaney in the 8-9 Years Prep A category, Reo Burgess won gold in the 9-10 Years Prep A, alongside Georgia Lane in the 11-12 Years National 2 and Brian Freeman in the 13+ National 3. Bethany James also won silver in the 11-12 Years National 2 category.

The afternoon session was the Sports Acro Pairs and Groups.

Anna Sharpe and Leigh Mulreaney were just nudged out of gold position and came home with the silver medal for their Prep B Girls Pair, Rebecca Haggath, Georgia Lane and Bethany James completed a Grade 1 Trio, which achieved the gold medal through a wonderfully executed performance, Rebecca Haggath was also in a Prep B Pair with Amy Crawford and was placed just out of the medals in fourth position and Chloe Mulraney, who was team captain, performed in two events. …
