BRACE yourself for the reopening of Haig Ave, with access to Rose City Shoppingworld from Fitzroy St not too far off.

Work to install a steel support structure on the wall of the Plumbs Chambers building at 84 Fitzroy St started yesterday and is expected to be finished next week.

Concerns raised more than a year ago by the Warwick police about the stability of the western wall of the Plumbs building led to the closure of Haig Ave, with Rose City Shoppingworld owners the McConaghy Group saying public safety was C[pounds sterling]paramountC[yen].

Rose City centre manager Jason Gard said yesterday the steel brace specially made to support the wall was expected to be in place by next Thursday at the latest.

C[pounds sterling]We can confirm work to stabilise the building wall has commenced and the support structure will be put in place next week,C[yen] Mr Gard said.
