Gallant Reds Repel Highlanders

THEY may not have got the bonus point they were after but the Reds did just enough to keep their finals hopes alive, prevailing 19-13 over the Highlanders in a Suncorp Stadium thriller last night.

But there was a hint of disappointment when, in just his fourth Super Rugby game, Reds winger Chris F'Sautia left the field clutching at his troublesome hamstring.

The 18-year-old made a break from a crisp pass by Wallabies five-eighth Quade Cooper and with support looming to his right, the Reds looked certain to score.

But F'Sautia pulled up from the movement as if shot by a sniper in the 34th minute with his side up 6-3.

That was the sole talking point in a dull first half which saw the visitors consistently trouble Queensland at the breakdown and pinch possession while the Reds were in good attacking positions.

The Reds, the reigning champions, had to wait until the 57th minute to score their first try courtesy of prop James Slipper lurking out wide. …
