Commercial feature in association with HARTLEPOOL ADULT EDUCATION DAVID Simpson was a bus driver for many years but was forced to leave his position due to minor medical issues.

He found it extremely difficult to find work as all of his qualifications and skills were in one particular area. He began volunteering at Manor West in Hartlepool in a business administration role, where he was offered the opportunity to undertake an apprenticeship. David's manager at Manor West contacted the Apprenticeship Hartlepool office at Hartlepool Adult Education who arranged for an initial assessment and interview to be carried out. After meeting with an advisor it was agreed that the best course of action for David would be to complete his level 3 apprenticeship in business administration. He decided that this would be a good route for him as he would be able to gain qualifications while earning money and by the end of the apprenticeship he would be more employable with skills, qualifications and references to help him gain future employment. …
