FISHING For Everyone Ladies Fishing Club is holding a charity fly fishing competition in aid of Hospicecare North Northumberland at Chatton Lakes from 1pm to 5pm on Sunday, August 12.

Entry is pounds 20 and includes fishing, refreshments and barbeque. There will be prizes for the largest fish and heaviest bag. For more details and to register interest and pay, contact Lucy Bowden at or call her on 07890519392.

There will be a Chatton Ladies' Day with the coaches from Ladies Fishing from 9.30am on Sunday - for more information please visit or The fishery will be open to all other anglers as normal.

Anglers who recorded good bags were Robert Hopper from Durham who caught 14, Alan Byers from Bonchester Bridge who kept four and returned eight, Matty Divine from Hadston who caught 11, and Joe Brown from Bedlington who kept three and returned seven.

Geoff Curry from Durham and Ken Glenton from Ashington each caught nine, Keith Watson from Stakeford kept four and returned five, and Tony Robinson from Howtel kept one and returned eight.

R Hutchin had the heaviest fish of the week with a rainbow of 11lb 8oz, Mrs K Richardson of Tynemouth landed five fish and A Harvey brought six to the net.

Jonathan Lister of Longhorsley celebrated his sixth birthday with a fishing party for 16 friends at South Linden on Sunday with most of the six to eight-yearolds landing fish.

The lakes have fished well with C Fuller and A Fuller each catching and releasing five and D Maddison of Bedlington catching and releasing five and 10.

Most bait lake anglers recorded full bags with E Wilson of Blyth landing four and D Craven of Riding Mill and W Campbell of Morpeth each landing two.
