WHAT a shame we have to wait another 12 months for the next Queensland Garden Expo, but we trust you all enjoyed that excellent event.

Just a reminder to readers, that we have many of the garden centres featured at the expo, as well as others on the Sunshine Coast, with operators and staff able to provide professional advice to those who are unsure of themselves when it comes to gardening.

Whether it's soil, watering, fertilising, specific plants and their requirements, or the many other dilemmas some of us face in our gardens, they can advise you, or provide the name of the contact who can.

If you don't know where some of them are, take a look in the phone book.

It lists general nurseries, as well as specialists: for example, Fairhill Native Plants at Yandina, Bromagic Bromeliads at Palmwoods, the Palm and Cycad Centre on Bli Bli Road and many more.

THE annual Montville Camellia Festival will be held in St Mary's Church and Hall on the Village Green in Montville on July 28-29.

Camellias are one of the most popular flowers grown on the Sunshine Coast, so you can picture just how lovely it will all look, particularly complemented by a display of banners, quilts, and an art exhibition.

Camellia entries are invited in classes of formal, informal, red, white, pink, variegated and miniatures. Entries will be accepted at St Mary's Church, between 8 and 9am on Saturday, July 28.

There is also a competition for novelty arrangements up to 30cm, comprising one to three camellia blooms, with greenery and any decorative ornament, and entries up to 9cm.

A popular feature is the attractive raffle, with two prizes: first is two nights accommodation at Secrets on the Lake overlooking Lake Baroon, and the second prize is two nights' accommodation at Lilyponds Holiday Park beside the lovely park in Mapleton. …
