Danes Deny Wattles Premiership Points despite a Valiant Effort

RUGBY LEAGUE: Wattles toiled long and hard at Pittsworth on Saturday evening, but despite their urgency for a winning result, they were again denied premiership points, well beaten by the Pittsworth Danes 54-0.

Former Queensland Cup front-rower Matt Briggs was the outstanding player in the match, leading the Pittsworth forwards as they relentlessly broke Wattles' line.

Wattles' youngster Carl Gale showed maturity beyond his years, the front-rower never taking a backward stop against the onslaught and was voted Wattles best player and the team players' player for his efforts.

Back-rowers Aaron Scheid and captain/coach Glen McMillan were also among Wattles' best across the 80 minutes where the Warriors failed to put points on the scoreboard.

Tough young front rower Justin Wade took the field in A-grade, making his debut at the level, as did under-18 half Josh Henry, Henry who actually ran on in all three games on the program.

In other games on the day, the Wattles Railway Hotel, Allora, reserve graders were defeated 40-8. …
