Pardew to Wait on Skipper for Final Tour Game

FABRICIO Coloccini is hoping to lead Newcastle United out as skipper against Turkish giants Fenerbahe on Saturday night.

The Argentinian is yet to play for the Magpies this pre-season, having sat out their games against Chemnitzer and Monaco. The Magpies do not want the 30-yearold to suffer burn-out and Alan Pardew has already admitted that he won't play in every game next season, with the Europa League group stage something United will have to approach with caution if they get there.

Having left it until the last minute to decide whether Coloccini sat on the bench against Monaco, Pardew opted not to throw the South American into the mix.

So far, Steven Taylor, Tim Krul, Papiss Ciss and Coloccini are the only squad members yet to figure.

Pardew said: "We might see Fabricio against Fenerbahe, we'll see. He wants to be right. And he'll do extra work to get there. That's the type of player he is."

United trained yesterday in temperatures of 17[bar]C with a sprinkling of light rain. …
