RESIDENTS of the region have had mixed reactions to Bundaberg Regional Council's first budget under Mayor Mal Forman.

North Bundaberg ratepayer Wayne Tindell said he thought the 3.77% overall rate bill rise was a C[pounds sterling]jokeC[yen], while East Bundaberg woman Tracey McPhee said she thought the rise was relatively modest and reasonable.

Mr Tindell, 52, was incredulous when he was told of the rate rise announced in the budget.

C[pounds sterling]It's going up again? I cannot believe it,C[yen] he said.

C[pounds sterling]They charged me about $3500 last year and then they tell me I cannot even put a shed on my own land.

C[pounds sterling]They say they are going to fix the road near here (Hanbury St) Co but nothing happens.C[yen]

And despite the council elections have been just three months ago, Mr Tindell has already lost patience with it.
