SOME people didn't have the chance to execute their democratic right to vote, and that was simply not good enough.

That's Mackay Mayor Deirdre Comerford's opinion of this year's local government election postal vote shemozzle.

Mackay Regional Council is submitting recommendations to the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) and writing to the State Government in an attempt to put elections back in the hands of councils.

A total of nine recommendations have been made.

Cr Comerford said, in a nutshell, the Mackay council could run elections more cheaply and better than the Election Commission of Queensland (ECQ).
