STUDENTS at Warwick's Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE open day yesterday received the right advice straight from the horse's mouth.

Chris Reardon, from Warwick Vet Clinic, demonstrated the art of horse dentistry.

Certificate II in Agriculture students learnt about the different aspects of the horse's mouth and how to care for them.

Dr Reardon said it was important for students to learn how to correctly care for all different aspects of horses.

C[pounds sterling]Today the students learnt about routine checks for horses to make sure everything is in fine order,C[yen] Dr Reardon said.

C[pounds sterling]They learnt how to sedate a horse so they can use the powerfloat (a high-speed dental drill) to correct problems in the horse's mouth.C[yen]

Dr Reardon also said teaching the students allowed him to continually develop his skills as well.
