RACHEL BROWN has warned Great Britain not to be complacent when they take on New Zealand in today's Olympic Games opener at the Millennium Stadium.

The Everton goalkeeper faced New Zealand in the 2011 World Cup when her England team survived an early scare to claim a 2-1 victory against a side ranked 23rd in the world.

"They're not a team we can underestimate because we have played them quite frequently with England and they've always caused us problems," said Brown.

"They never give up, they're a very physical and fit team and you know you will always get 100 per cent from them.

"We need to keep our focus and not get distracted by the fact this is the opening game of the Olympics."

Britain warmed up for the Games with a 3-1 victory over South Africa before claiming a hard-fought 0-0 draw with Sweden at Middlesbrough last Friday.

Hope Powell's side are not among the favourites for gold but Brown believes home advantage and their two pre-tournament performances give them cause for optimism. …
