Park Future Safe with New Plan; Council Works on an Upgrade for Keppel Sands Sewage Plant

ANOTHER report, another vote and community meeting, but finally there's some good news for the residents of Keppel Sands and the Bill Kingel Caravan Park.

Councillors voted at Tuesday's Rockhampton Regional Council meeting to let the matter rest until the Performance and Service committee met on September 25, but met with residents on Wednesday.

Despite a council officer's recommendation to spend $50,000 to repair and upgrade the capacity of the system, councillors decided to take a longer-term approach.

Cr Tom Wyatt said the council would call for expressions of interest to source an environmentally-friendly, tertiary sewage treatment system capable of handling 250 people with the end water able to be used for irrigation.

Cr Glenda Mather, commercial manager Bob Holmes and Cr Wyatt met residents yesterday to discuss their plans.
