Scammers Find Another Way to Take Your Money; Microsoft Will Never Phone You, So Don't Fall for the Scam

COMPUTER guru Bruce Kerr is warning all Central Queensland computer users that software giant Microsoft will C[pounds sterling]never call you Co everC[yen], after a spate of scammers have targeted his customers.

The managing director of Kerr Solutions, in North Rockhampton, said the hackers were currently targeting CQ homes claiming they were Microsoft employees.

In the past week 10 clients have called his business about the scams.

C[pounds sterling]In one case the caller was allowed to gain access to the computer and also given credit card details for a transaction of over $400 Co for supposedly 60 support sessions,C[yen] Mr Kerr said.

Mr Kerr said the scammers were calling random phone numbers in the likelihood they would find a computer owner.

He said they would then launch into a well-prepared spiel explaining they could see from the internet that the person's computer had problems or viruses and they needed access to fix the problems.

C[pounds sterling]We have even heard stories of them calling a household without a computer whereby they just hang up and call the next number,C[yen] Mr Kerr said. …
